Location
Enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of the San Juan Islands in the northwest corner of Washington State. In the center of this group of islands lies Orcas Island, the largest of the archipelago. Gentle summer weather and protected waterways make this an ideal vacation spot. Moran State Park has miles of hiking trails, fresh water lakes for fishing and swimming, and breathtaking scenery from the top of Mt. Constitution, the highest point in the San Juans. The Sand Dollar Inn is located near the Village of Olga, Moran State Park, and less than 15 minutes from the town of Eastsound making it an ideal 'home base' from which to explore the island.

Orcas Island is served by the Washington State Ferry System. Ferries to the island depart from the mainland terminal in Anacortes several times a day, and from Sidney, near Victoria, British Columbia, once daily. By car, the drive from Seattle to the Anacortes ferry terminal takes about 2 hours. Take I-5 north to the Highway 20 exit just north of Mt. Vernon. Take Highway 20 west, following the signs through Anacortes to the San Juan Island Ferry Terminal. In the summer, the ferries can be crowded. Plan to be at the terminal a minimum of 2 hours prior to the scheduled sailing. You can call the Washington State Ferries at (800) 843-3779 for current schedules and advice on when to arrive for your planned sailing.

Once you arrive on Orcas, turn left as you leave the ferry terminal onto the Horseshoe Highway. Follow this road up through Eastsound, down through Moran State Park to the Olga intersection, then follow the road to the left approximately 1/2 mile to the Sand Dollar Inn on the left.
